Settings and privacy
What is in Settings, how to back up and export your prayers, and what does and does not leave your phone.
Prayminder has no account to sign in to. Your prayers live on your phone, and the Settings tab is where you control reminders, the Bible, backups and how to reach us.

What is in Settings?
- Reminders Settings: turning reminders on and off, the schedule, the notification sound. See Reminders.
- Bible Settings: your Bible version and the verse of the day. See Bible and verses.
- Data & Backup: export and import your prayers.
- Get Support and Contact us: help pages and a way to write to us.
- News & Announcements, Our story and Privacy.
- At the bottom: share icons, the app version, and your Support ID.
Back up your prayers
Prayminder does not keep a copy of your prayers on its own servers, so backup happens in two ways: your phone's own backup, and a file you export yourself.
Prayminder's data is included in your iPhone's normal backup to iCloud or to a computer. When you restore that backup onto a new iPhone, your prayers, groups, notes and settings come with it.
For a copy you control, export a file as well; see the next question. Do this before you change phones or reinstall the app.
Export or import your prayers
Open Data & Backup
Go to the Settings tab and tap Data & Backup.

Pick a format
Under Options, Export Format offers two choices. JSON is the one Prayminder can import again; choose it for backups. CSV is for opening in a spreadsheet and cannot be imported.
Export
Tap Export Prayer Data and save the file, or send it somewhere safe.
Import
To bring a file back, tap Import Prayer Data and choose it. The prayers and groups in the file are added to your list; nothing already there is removed, and prayers that already exist are updated rather than duplicated.
The export contains your prayers, notes, statuses, counts and groups. It does not include reminder settings or the verses attached to prayers.
Can I use Prayminder on more than one device?
Prayminder is designed with a privacy-first approach, which means your prayer content is stored locally on your device. There is no automatic cross-device sync built into the app, so if you use more than one device, each one keeps its own local set of prayers.
To put the same prayers on a second device, export a file from the first and import it there, as above. You will need to do that again whenever you want the second device to catch up.
We are exploring secure ways to introduce optional sync in the future, while keeping sensitive prayer content protected and under your control.
What information leaves my phone?
Your prayers, notes and attached verses are stored on your phone and are not sent to us. There is no account and no login.
What Prayminder's cloud does receive depends on how your reminders are delivered:
With the default setup, nothing about your prayers leaves the phone; reminders are scheduled locally. If you turn on Cloud-assisted reminders (optional), Prayminder's cloud receives your reminder schedule and an anonymous identifier for each prayer in the rotation, so that it can send a reminder for the right one. Titles and notes stay on your phone; the notification text is filled in on the device.
Bible text is fetched from YouVersion when you read it. The app also collects anonymous usage statistics so we can see which features are used.
The full details are in the privacy policy, which is also under Privacy in the Settings tab.
What is my Support ID?
At the very bottom of the Settings tab there is a Support ID. It identifies your installation of Prayminder, not you, and it is the only thing we can use to look into reminder problems on our side. Tap it to reveal and copy the ID, then paste it into your message when you contact us.

If it reads PM0-0000, your phone has not yet registered for cloud reminders; that is normal on a new install and sorts itself out.
Can I change the app's appearance?
Prayminder follows your phone's light or dark setting. There is no separate appearance setting in the app.

Tap News & Announcements in the Settings tab, or the News chip at the top of it when there is something unread.
