Bible and verses
Read the Bible in Prayminder, attach verses to your prayers, change the Bible version, and manage the verse of the day.
Prayminder includes a Bible reader, and any verse you read can be saved to one of your prayers so it comes back to you alongside your notes. Bible content is provided through YouVersion.
Read the Bible
Open the Read tab and tap The Bible. The reader opens where you left off; the first time, it opens at John 1.
- Tap the chapter title at the top to pick a different book and chapter.
- Use the arrows to move to the previous or next chapter.
- Tap the version chip (for example NIV) to switch to a different Bible version.
Attach a verse to a prayer
There are two ways in, depending on where you start.
From the reader:
Select the verses
Tap a verse to select it; tap more verses to add them. Tap a verse again to deselect it.
Choose the prayer
A Select prayer list appears, grouped like your prayer list. Tap the prayer. The verses are attached and the reader clears your selection.
From a prayer:
Open Add Scripture
Open the prayer, tap the plus button and choose Add Scripture. The reader opens on top of the prayer.
Select and save
Tap the verses you want, then Save Scripture. Because you started from a prayer, there is no list to pick from; the verses go straight onto it.
Where do attached verses appear?
On the prayer's Notes tab, as a card with the reference and the text. Tap the card to read the whole passage, and tap Read Chapter from there to jump into the reader at that chapter. Tap the small arrow on the card to collapse it to just the reference.
Verses are kept in the version they were saved in. Changing the reader's version later does not change them.
Remove a verse from a prayer
On the prayer's Notes tab, tap the menu on the verse card and choose Remove Scripture, then confirm with Remove. This only removes it from the prayer; nothing happens to the Bible or to your notes.
Change the Bible version
Tap the version chip at the top of the reader. The Bible Version list shows the versions available in your language; tap one to switch. Tap Bible Language to see versions in other languages.
The same setting lives under the Settings tab, in Bible Settings, as Bible version.
Not every translation is in the list; see below for why.
Why are some Bible versions missing?
Not all Bible translations are available to use. Each version is owned and managed by its publisher, and access depends on licensing and permissions. Because of this, some versions will not appear in the Bible Version list even though they exist elsewhere.
More are added as additional licenses become available through YouVersion, which partners with publishers and Bible societies to make Scripture available digitally while respecting the rights of each translation. The goal is to make the Bible accessible to as many people as possible, across languages and traditions. If the version you read is not there, tell us through the contact form.
The verse of the day
The Reminders tab shows a verse at the top each day. It is chosen for you and changes daily.
- To hide it, go to the Settings tab, tap Bible Settings and switch off Show verse of the day.
- To read it in a different version from the one you use in the reader, set Bible version (verse of the day) on the same screen. The two versions are independent, so changing one never changes the other.
Use earlier Bible versions on the same screen adds a set of classic versions to the choices for the verse of the day only.
Why are verses not loading?
Bible text is fetched over the internet the first time you read a chapter, so you need a connection. If you are online and a passage still will not load, give it a moment and try again; the service may be busy. See Troubleshooting if it keeps happening.
Do I need an account to read the Bible?
No. No account is required to read the Bible, and there is no sign-in anywhere in Prayminder. What you read is not tracked, and your prayers and the verses you attach to them remain on your device. See What information leaves my phone?
Copyright and attribution
Most Bible translations are copyrighted works. When reading the Bible in Prayminder, you may see copyright information specific to each translation. This reflects the original publisher's ownership and is required when displaying their content.
